By the end of the session, participants will have practical strategies and a clear approach to writing letters that maximize students' chances of success in competitive selection processes.

In this presentation, Kyomi Gregory-Martin, PhD, will discuss her research on non-mainstream dialects, child language assessment and treatment, interprofessional practice and education, and parent training and teacher training workshops. She will highlight key projects from her career at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ as well as her latest research endeavors. Gregory-Martin is the recipient of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association Award for outstanding contributions in multicultural affairs and the2024 Dean's Research Award for the College of Health Professions. Her work has been published in speech-language pathology journals and across other disciplines.

In this presentation, Fran Falk-Ross, PhD will share her research documenting the supportive nature of using a mix of modes (such as images, print, graphic novels, poetry, online sources) to instruct a diversity of students and teachers at different reading levels and linguistic knowledge. Professor Falk-Ross’s work has been published in the professional journal, Language Arts, and in conference presentations. Examples of teachers’ constructions and applications to design multimodal resources will be shared with participants. This presentation is part of a series meant to spotlight the innovative research of Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵfaculty.

This session will feature two successful grant recipients from the sciences.
