Charge

As of October 2024

The committee is charged with researching, coordinating, and optimizing the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), include best practices for the use of AI, and draft policies that are ethical and inclusive as they pertain to students, faculty, and staff.

  1. The AI Committee will meet with College/School Council chairs and executive committee members to identify all AI academic programs and courses (Undergraduate, Graduate, and Doctoral) as well as faculty in discipline specific AI expertise in AI
  2. Identify current ̾Ƶ AI resources including library, ITS, computational labs, robotics labs, etc.
  3. Assess all administrative uses of AI including ChatGPT and any other AI based adaptive systems and develop a training plan for staff.
  4. Draft “best practices” for ̾Ƶ faculty to incorporate AI in research, curriculum development including learning outcomes assessment, teaching and related course assignments, including strategies to implement AI ethical best practices in DEI & mitigating the effects of implicit bias. Offer training/support for faculty on the use of AI in pedagogy via the Faculty Center in collaboration with the Colleges & Schools
  5. Develop an AI policy on academic integrity & related expectations of students.
  6. Brief/provide periodic reports to the Provost including findings, recommendations, approvals needed, implementation, and short and long term goals and related
