Biography

Faculty Bio

Meaghan Brewer earned her Doctor of Philosophy in English from Temple University and teaches courses in rhetoric, composition, and literacy studies, including Writing in the Disciplines, Language and Identity, Introduction to Rhetorical History and Theory, and Writing about Culture: Ethnography. She also directs the Writing Enhanced Course Program for the New York City campus. Her research interests include teacher education for graduate students, literacy theory, nineteenth-century American rhetorics, and disciplinarity. She has published articles in Peitho, Composition Studies, Composition Forum, College Composition and Communication, Applied Linguistics Review, and the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy. Her book, Conceptions of Literacy: Graduate Instructors and the Teaching of First-Year Composition, was published with Utah State University Press (2020).
