The Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ| Haub Law Advocacy Program hosted its third biennial Gavel Gala on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, NY. The mission of the Gavel Gala is to honor the advocacy program’s hardworking and dedicated coaches, the successes of former law school alumni, to celebrate the school’s current law students in the advocacy program, provide students the opportunity to network with attorneys and judges, to provide scholarship money to allow our students the opportunity to travel and compete across the nation and in prestigious international opportunities. This year, the Program had a lot to celebrate as it was recently ranked # 13 in the Nation by U.S. News and World Report’s latest rankings.
Louis V. Fasulo
Biography
Louis V. Fasulo is Professor of Trial Practice and Director of Advocacy, Moot Court, and Client Skills Programs at Haub Law. Professor Louis Fasulo is a partner in the law firm of Fasulo Giordano & Di Maggio. The firm focuses in white collar criminal defense, criminal defense, education law, real estate, employment discrimination, family law, banking and securities compliance work and civil criminal and commercial litigation.
Professor Fasulo has been the adjunct faculty recipient of the Barbara C. Salken Outstanding Professor of the Year Award, chosen by students, for the 2000–2001, 2007–2008, 2013–2014 and 2015–2016 academic years. He also received the Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵLeadership Award in 2020. Additionally, Haub Law has named the first-year moot court competition the Louis V. Fasulo Moot Court Competition in honor of Professor Fasulo.
Professor Fasulo serves as Vice President of the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators, and he is currently Chair of New York County Defenders. He teaches and has run international law program in comparative advocacy in Oxford England, for Stetson University Law School, and teaches in Iceland at the Ohio Northern University and University of Iceland joint advocacy program.
Professor Fasulo has led New York City Police Department Detective Training on direct and cross examination. He is also a lecturer on closing arguments for the New York City Law Department and teaches in their NITA program. He has served on panels at the Educating Advocacy Teachers Seminar on various topics, including course development, ABA compliance issues, development of faculty and trial skills programs, and diversity equity and inclusion. He frequently lectures to Bar Associations and CLE Program.
