Adjunct Professor Howard Beltzer held senior roles in the restructuring groups of leading international law firms for over 40 years. He developed a particular expertise in cross-border restructurings, having co-authored a leading treatise on the subject and also having participated in many of the largest such proceedings in recent decades. While primarily representing lending syndicates, he also had significant first chair debtor-side experience, including representation of retailers such as Linens ’n Things, Mervyn’s and Camelot Music. He represented one of the largest derivatives counterparties to Lehman Brothers, and helped to negotiate the protocol adopted in the case to govern such transactions. Among his accomplishments, Professor Beltzer was recognized numerous times by Chambers, Legal 500, International Law Review 1000, The Best Lawyers in America, and miscellaneous other peer rating organizations. He holds a BA from Harvard College and a JD from Yale Law School, where he served on the editorial board for the Yale Journal of World Public Order (now Yale Journal of International Law).
