This seminar will focus on the ethical issues confronted by a Judge in rendering judicial decisions. An examination of the judicial decision making process will be made from the perspective of a retired Justice of the Appellate Division Second Department, who presently serves on the New York State Judicial Ethics Advisory Committee. The retired justice will share the non-public view of 20 years of judicial decision making. Judicial Ethics Advisory Opinions and the Rules and Regulations governing judicial ethics and related case law will be analyzed as well as articles authored by former and present Supreme Court Justices collected in the book 鈥淛udges on Judging, Views From the Bench鈥 and the book 鈥淎 Judge鈥檚 Advice, 50 Years on the Bench鈥 written by a Senior United States Circuit Court Judge.
