Admission Requirements

This program requires a background in nutrition-related science courses, including the pre-requisite courses listed below. Applications are reviewed carefully by the Admission Committee utilizing a holistic approach, considering academic records, food and nutrition-related work experience, a personal statement that describes students’ goals and aims, as well as letters of reference. Both domestic and international students are welcome to apply.

All applicants must meet the following requirements for admission into the Nutrition & Dietetics program:

  • Applicants must apply online using the
  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution
  • Please note that we do not require applicants to have an undergraduate degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field.
  • Preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale
  • Preferred prerequisite GPA of 3.0 based on a 4.0 scale
  • One page personal statement describing why you wish to pursue this field
  • Two letters of recommendation from either academic or professional sources

Completion of all prerequisite courses

  • English Composition or Literature
  • Introduction to Psychology
  • Statistics
  • Introduction to Nutrition
  • Microbiology
  • Organic Chemistry with lab
  • Anatomy & Physiology I and II with lab
  • Biochemistry

The GRE is not required

Priority consideration is given to students to complete all prerequisite coursework ahead of the January 15 application deadline. If offered admission with a course either in-progress or planned, the offer would be contingent on successful completion of all outstanding coursework ahead of the start of the term.

If you earned a bachelor's degree in a country where English is not the official language and English is not your first language, you must submit scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language () OR the International English Language Testing System () or that are no more than two years old. In general, a TOEFL score of 100 (Internet-based version) or an IELTS score of 7.5 or Pearson PTE score of 68 is sufficient to demonstrate the requisite proficiency in English for admission into the College of Health Professions academic programs.
