Dean Frances Reiter Memorial Scholarship

To honor the memory of Frances Reiter, founder and first dean of the Generic Master’s Nursing Program at the Lienhard School of Nursing, there will be a scholarship awarded to a student in the ABS program who has completed one semester of the ABS program, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Elizabeth Plummer Memorial Scholarship

To honor Elizabeth Plummer, beloved professor of the Lienhard School of Nursing, there will be one scholarship awarded to an ABS student with a GPA of 3.3 or higher, and the completion of one semester. Professor Plummer was a pioneer in the advanced practice movement in American nursing and a major contributor to the development of nursing education programs for college graduates.

Harriet R. and Ronald M. Feldman Nursing Student Writing Award

The Harriet R. and Ronald M. Feldman Nursing Student Writing Award Fund was established by Dean Harriet R. Feldman and her late husband, Ron. Dr. Feldman served as dean of the Lienhard School of Nursing from 1993 to 2010, interim provost of Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ from 2010 to 2012, and dean of the College of Health Professions and the Lienhard School of Nursing from 2013–2021. The purpose of the award is to recognize significant writing achievement by providing financial incentive to an undergraduate or graduate student at the Lienhard School of Nursing. Award selection will be made based on student writings on health policy or leadership in nursing. Two awards will be made to student who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate study at any campus of the Lienhard School of Nursing with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Candidates will submit one piece of written work with a maximum length of 1,500 words about which they are most proud and that best represents their creative and scholarly efforts. Any type of work written work (e.g., essay, short story, student assignment) will be eligible for consideration. The submission should focus on the topics of health policy, leadership, or an aspect of evidence-based practice.

Award selection criteria include:

• Importance to health care and nursing
• Originality
• Correctness of literary style determined by the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association

Hearst Scholarship

This scholarship is made possible by a generous grant of The William Randolph Hearst Foundation. Applicants must be enrolled in the Lienhard School of Nursing Accelerated Baccalaureate of Science (ABS) program and will be selected on the basis of their essay and academic achievements. 6 scholarships of $10,000 will be awarded to Pleasantville ABS Students and will be disbursed in the 2nd and 3rd semester ($5,000/semester) in academic year 2023–2024.

Helene Fuld Health Trust Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is made possible by the generous endowment of the Helene Fuld Health Trust, HSBC Bank USA, N.A., Trustee. Applicants must be enrolled in the Lienhard School of Nursing, ABS program and will be selected on the basis of their essay and academic achievements. This scholarship is not based on financial need.

Jean and Henry Pollak Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship will be awarded to a Lienhard school of Nursing student, who will agree to apply, as first choice, for employment as a nurse at White Plains Hospital, White Plains, New York. This scholarship shall impose no long-term burden on either the Hospital or the applicant with respect to job tenure. Nor shall the Hospital or the student be required to hire or retain the Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵapplicant as an employee for any set period. One scholarship will be awarded to a student in the ABS program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

JP Kok Charnizon Foundation Nursing Scholarship

Two scholarships will be awarded to students who are enrolled in the ABS program in NYC with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to students who indicate their intention to work in a NYC area hospital for at least two years after graduation.

Marilyn Jaffe-Ruiz Scholarship

The Marilyn Jaffe-Ruiz Scholarship was established by Dr. Marilyn Jaffe-Ruiz, a beloved professor of the Lienhard School of Nursing since 1981. She also served as dean of the Lienhard School of Nursing from 1986 to 1992 and provost and executive vice president for Academic Affairs from 1999 to 2003. The purpose of the fund is to provide financial support to undergraduate nursing students (ABS or RN4) who demonstrate financial need, and maintain a minimum 3.25 QPA.

Patricia Mallet Memorial Scholarship

The Patricia Mallet Memorial Scholarship was established through the generosity of the Mallet family, in memory of their daughter Patricia. Two scholarships will be awarded to students in the ABS program who have completed one semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, the completion of one semester and have financial need.

Paula Scharf Kohn Scholarship

To honor the memory of Dr. Paula Scharf Kohn, professor emerita of the Lienhard School of Nursing and a leader in community health, the Paula Scharf Kohn Scholarship was established in 2016. Four scholarships of $2500 each will be awarded to students in the ABS with at least one semester completed, and to a student who demonstrates a commitment to community service with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

The June McCauley Undergraduate Nursing Research Assistant Award

This award is meant to support and enrich scholarly research by Lienhard School of Nursing (LSN) undergraduate students with the collaboration and oversight of LSN faculty. The award is made possible by the generous support of the June Wilson McCauley Research and Opportunity Endowment.

Students may be enrolled in any master’s program of the College of Health Professions, including Nursing, Physician Assistant, Nutrition and Dietetics, Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Occupational Therapy. Thirty scholarships of $1,000 each are available.

Charles J. and Margaret R. Benjamin Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Suzanne Benjamin Gralnick, BS '81, MPA '84, in honor of her parents. Two scholarships will be awarded to a student who is enrolled in graduate study (master’s, DNP or PhD) at any campus of the Lienhard School of Nursing. Students must be an alum of the Lienhard School of Nursing, have completed at least two semesters of study leading to a graduate degree and maintain an overall minimum academic GPA of 3.5 or higher.

CVS Health Foundation Scholarship

The College of Health Professions at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ has been awarded a 1-year grant from the CVS Health Foundation to provide scholarships to qualified FNP Students.

Hewitt Scholarship

The Lienhard School of Nursing at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ has been awarded a most generous gift from the Estate of Jeffery Richard Hewitt. To be eligible to receive the Hewitt Scholarship under this program, applicants must: Be enrolled in a graduate nursing program at the Lienhard School of Nursing, i.e. the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program (AGACNP), the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), or the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Program (PMHNP) MS programs, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), or PhD programs, and be in good academic standing.

Phelps Healthcare Foundation Fieldwork Stipend

The Phelps Healthcare Foundation's mission is to provide financial support to organizations that serve the health care needs and/or promote wellness of residents of Westchester and/or Rockland Counties, New York. Thanks to the generous gift from The Phelps Healthcare Foundation, junior and senior Health Science students are eligible to apply for a stipend to support their fieldwork experience. This funding will assist students in offsetting expenses during their fieldwork and enabling them to graduate with real-world experiences.

Many scholarships of up to $5,000 each will be awarded to students in their 1st and 2nd years of the Nutrition and Dietetics Program.

The endowment will provide doctoral dissertation support to PhD in Nursing students annually up to $2,500 per award. To be eligible, student must be a current PhD in Nursing student in good academic standing, who has made sufficient progress, toward their dissertation, as determined by the PhD program director, and be working on a research topic related to primary health care for children and/or adults.

Audrey Jones Scholarship

This scholarship is made possible by the generous support of Audrey Jones. The scholarship is awarded to PhD in Nursing students in CHP who maintain a 3.0 GPA.

College of Health Professions (CHP) Advisory Board Scholarship

This scholarship is made possible by the generous support of CHP Advisory Board members. The scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in the PhD in Nursing program at the Lienhard School of Nursing. The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial support to PhD in Nursing students, for educational expenses that may include the costs of conducting doctoral research.

Hugoton Disability Grant Fellowship

Nurse Faculty Loan Program

The Lienhard School of Nursing at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ has entered into an agreement with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Bureau of Health Professions, Division of Nursing to participate in the Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP). Under the NFLP, Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ is authorized to operate a loan fund for nursing students enrolled in the Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD) Program with a concentration in nursing education. Loan recipients must agree to complete the education program, and following graduation, may cancel up to 85% of the NFLP loan provided that they serve as full-time (full-time has the meaning used by the employing school of nursing for its faculty and may include (1) full-time faculty member at an accredited school of nursing; or (2) part-time faculty member at an accredited school of nursing in combination with another part-time faculty position or part-time clinical preceptor position affiliated with an accredited school of nursing that together equates to full-time employment) nursing faculty at an accredited school of nursing for a consecutive four-year period.

The William Resk Endowed Scholarship

The William Resk Endowed Scholarship Fund was established by a most generous gift from Marie J. Toulantis. The Resk Scholarship will be used for students enrolled in the PhD program who maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. The scholarship amounts will vary according to need.

Ruth K. Pell Scholarship

To honor Ruth K. Pell, the first dean of the Lienhard School of Nursing, three scholarships in the amount of (varies) will be awarded to RN4 students, who have completed at least 25% of Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵcredits with a GPA of 3.25 or higher.

Stokes First Generation Scholarship

In honor of Dr. Shirlee Ann Stokes, the Stokes First Generation Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. Shirlee Ann Stokes, a beloved professor of the Lienhard School of Nursing from 1977–2010. The fund provides financial support to a first generation RN4 student. Dr. Stokes was the first in her family to earn a college degree. She received financial assistance throughout her education, without which she could not have advanced. Three scholarships will be awarded to a full or part-time junior or senior, who does not possess a baccalaureate degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, whom neither parent earned a college degree, and demonstrates financial need.

Two awards of (amount varies) will be awarded to sophomore or juniors in the RN4 program who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrates financial need.

H. Patricia Neuhs Endowed Scholarship

One scholarship will be awarded to a student in the RN/BS program with 25% of required Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵcredits completed and a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Students must fill out FAFSA and demonstrate financial need.

Candidates will submit one piece of written work with a maximum length of 1,500 words about which they are most proud and that best represents their creative and scholarly efforts. Any type of work written work (e.g., essay, short story, student assignment) will be eligible for consideration. The submission should focus on the topics of health policy, leadership, or an aspect of evidence-based practice.

Award selection criteria include:

• Importance to health care and nursing
• Originality
• Correctness of literary style determined by the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association

Thomas A. Corr Scholarship

Up to three scholarships will be awarded to students in the RN/BS program with at least 25% of required Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵcredits completed and a current GPA of 3.25 or higher.
